Bernard,
Romans 3:32 says that "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." The "glory of God" is God's absolute standard of perfection. Sin would therefore be falling short of the mark. (Greek scholars will tell you that the original meaning of the word for "sin" in the verse quoted above is exactly that: missing the target). How do we know we have sinned? How do we measure how far we have fallen short of the mark? The Bible gives us the following pointers: 1. when we rebell against God (1 John 3:4) 2. when we break the law of God (Rom 5:13) 3. when we are morally impure (Psalm 32:5) But why do we sin? Because we are sinners. Why are we sinners? Because of Adam. The solution? our Lord Jesus. Glory to God! His, keith
