Prayer of the Frog
"Prisoner at the bar", said the Grand Inquisitor, "you have been charged with encouraging people to break with the laws, traditions and customs of our holy religion. How do you plead?" "Guilty, Your Honour" "And with frequenting the company of heretics, prostitutes, public sinners, the extortionist tax-collectors, the colonial conquerors of our nation - in short, the ex-communicated. How do you plead?" "Guilty, Your Honour" "Finally, you are charged with revising, correcting, calling into question the sacred tenets of our faith. How do you plead?" "Guilty, Your Honour" "What is your name, prisoner?" "Jesus Christ, Your Honour"
(Some people are just as alarmed to see their religion practised as they are to hear it doubted.) Fr Anthony de Mello's Prayer of the Frog ****************************************************** The jews etc. have the Hebrew Bible (Old Testaments / scriptures) and yet fail to recognise Jesus when He came the 1st time round. Can someone explain Malachi 4:5 ? "See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. Is this refering to the 1st coming ? If so, the bible clearly states it is Elijah and not someone in the power of Elijah. Or is this referring to the 2nd Coming of Christ ? Would the real Elijah appear before the End Times ? Now we have the NT. Will we recognise Jesus when He arrives ? Can anyone share with me how to be sure that the bible is truly the inspired word of God ? If it is, why are there disagreement in the books to be included ? e.g. Catholic and Protestants Bibles... http://www.cin.org/users/james/files/2canons.htm so confusing when so many people say so many different things and both feel they are right before God's Eyes.... If we don't constantly seek the truth, what if we are like the OT time, not ready for new revelations and a new covenant ? Do we know that maybe there will be more revealations to come ? How do we know everything that will be revealed is revealed already? Will we recognise the truth when it hits ?
