Hi Royston, Yes,
I am better. Thanks my friend. Seems
like I have heard the word "repent" more in the last 5 weeks than I
have in the last 5 years. In
searching for understanding and resolution to the events before and after the
tradgy in New York many have turned to the message of "repentance"
that is promoted by various Christian groups. The
message I am hearing is this: God is angry with "America" for it's
tollerance of homosexuality, abortion, and stem cell research and other sins.
In his anger and wisdom he "allowed" terrorists to destroy the WTC
and kill 5000 people. This was done to get the attention of the
"Church" in America so it would "repent" .and in doing so America will once again enjoy
God's blessing. The call is for Christians to repent of their evil ways or face
destruction. Or
in other words: "God loves you. Repent or die." I
am all for repentance. Repentance is change. Turning away from sin. Yes the
"church" needs to change. On this I agree. However,
the notion that God somehow had a hand in orchestrating deaths of these 5000
people is preposterous. All
of the Scripture I see backing this up is Old Testament, as it related to
Israel. I believe I sent you a link to David Wilkerson's post WTC sermon. That
is a good example. Some
are saying that preachers like Wilkerson are opportunists, using the events of
Sept 11 as a springboard to promote their churches and beliefs, by using fear
to motivate people to repent and join their Church. I hope to God this is not
true. In
my opinion it boils down to the same old argument of faith verse works as it
relates to salvation. And also the understanding or lack thereof of God's grace
and the current dispensation. Romans
sums it up for me. Romans 2:4 (KJV) "Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? It
is the goodness of God that leads one to repentance(change). The deaths of
innocent people is not good. God
Bless, Bill
