Pray Suicidal Saints

Forum: Messageboard
Date: 2001, Oct 24
From: Keith poetkeith

Came across a posting somewhere which seems to imply that suicide is such a greivious sin that it can cause a believer (one who had genuinely accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour) to loss his/her salvation.

Touched a nerve in me, as my church had two suicide cases this year.

My stand is that there is no sin (except that of rejection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour) that is unpardonable.

So I believe that my brother and sister in Christ (both of whom suffered from depression and needed psychiatric help) are now in heaven - totally free and perfectly well, enjoying the full life they did not experience on Earth with the Lord.

Fruitful they might not had been while they were in their human flesh, but beloved children of our Father they surely are.

I'm not advocating that it is okay to commit suicide. What an abhorant thought. I'm all abundant and victorious living for the Glory of our Father.

But I believe that there really is no sin (other than denial of Christ) that is cannot be cleansed by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Suicide is no exception.

Again, I'm strongly against people taking their own lives. Life should be treasured and cherished as a gift from God, and is meant for enjoying, serving, and honouring Him.

Just want to remind us (myself included) to offer hope and words of comfort to the family members of those Christians who went to heaven (way too early) by their silly (but not unforgivable) acts.

Leave judgement and condamnation aside. Focus on sharing about God's love and faithfulness.

May His Joy be with us all, keith
