Nothing related to the topic on suicide. Just trivia on the "eye of a needle"....
In the time of Jesus, when one gets into a city, they would need to pass the city gates. The city gates are opened for the people in the day and shut at night. During the day, these gates are huge enough to allow merchants with their mules and camels ladened with goods and merchandise to come into the city. By evening, these city gates would be closed. However, a small door on one side of the gate would be opened to continue allowing people into the city. This door is only large enough to permit a mule (minus goods laden on it) to get in. All camels and merchandise would have to be "parked" outside until the next morning. This door is known as the "eye of a needle". I guess it would indeed look like the eye of a needle from a distance.
