What modern brands of Christianity have done is to pay less and less attention to God, who is known as the Father in the NT, and more or less push Him out of the picture. This is a very serious error and I think is one of the reasons why Christianity seems to be so empty nowadays. In fact I began to relate with God the Father only after attending the historical Anglican services. Before that the Father was some vague Being. Everything in an historical Anglican service and all prayer, collects, etc is always addressed to God the Father through Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord. The true Christian doctrine is the doctrine of The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost - not just Jesus only. There is a book on this subject entittled "The Forgotten Father" written by an Anglican clergyman. It is of paramount importance to get the doctrine of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost right. Otherwise it is not Christianity but some other religion. |
