I just saw your message addressed to me. Thanks. I generally agree with you but there is more. Often in the church, God is pictured as someone who is ever waiting to send people to hell and Jesus as someone who has come to rescues us form this awesome God. At least that is the picture I had of God before I got involved with Anglicanism. According to the Bible this is a very wrong picture of God. The Nicene Creed says: I belive in one God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible: And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotton Son of God, begotton of his Father before all worlds, ...... And the Apostles' Creed says: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. ...... So we are not to confound God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is not the Father but the only-begotton Son of God. The historical chrisian faith is that there is one God the Father Almighty, one Lord Jesus Christ and one Holy Spirit. For a more theological understanding of this subject please read up on Economic Trinity and Immanent Trinity and also the development of the doctrine of Trinity including Christology. Bye Bye: |
