Hi all, I think this has become a very controversial topic on "The Secrets of the Vine" judging from the amount of threads generated. I may say that this seems to be the hot topic of the hour. There are so many sincere and pertinent questions ask which I like to list them here re the passage in Jn 15:1-8. 1) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away or lifts up. v 2 Q. Does this verse refer to Christian or non-Christian? If it refers to Christian then "lifts up" will apply. If it refers to non-Christian then "takes away" will apply. Or it can accommodate both views? 2) If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. v 6 Q. Does this verse refer to Christian or non-Christian? If it refers to Christian, then it appears that Christian can lose their salvation. If it refers to non-Christian, there is no problem with the loss of salvation. THE BIG QUESTIONS BEFORE US IS THIS: A) DOES FRUITBEARING DETERMINE A CHRISTIAN'S SALVATION? B) CAN A CHRISTIAN LOSE HIS SALVATION? C) ARE THERE FALSE(PSEUDO) CHRISTIANS? D) CAN A CHRISTIAN FAIL TO BEAR FRUIT IN HIS LIFETIME AND CLAIM TO BE A CHRISTIAN? CONDITIONS FOR FORUMERS 1) Be objective and not be biased. 2) Do not take sides. 3) Be convincing in justifying your positions. 4) Do not lose self-control. Avoid "forum rage". 5) Do not run down the arguments of other views. 6) Do form your own conclusion at the end of your posting. 7) Be Biblical or Scriptural in supporting your views. The objective of this posting is to let those who have missed the previous discussion to contribute so that we will be able to cast a wider net to accommodate more views. Please feel free to contribute. Please try to abide by the conditions. In His steps, |
