TL,
Pardon me for "messing" around with your formula. But I just can't resist it... I do not wish to be engaged in a debate on the different ways of interpretating James 2:20-24. Just want to list a few questions for you to think about: 1. When did Ahraham receive the imputation of righteousness? (a) when he believed God long before Isaac was born, or (b) years later, when he offered Isaac upon the altar 2. How long do you think was the time-lapse between the two events (a) and (b) in question 1 above? 3. Was Abraham a rigteous man justified in the eyes of God during that period of time? 4. Having considered the above questions, do you think that there might be a possibility that my proposed formula of "faith = righteous + work" is a workable and valid one? Or do you still think that the only correct formula is "faith + works = righteousness"? I know we are over-simplifying things here when we use mathematical formula to conceptualise our understanding of our faith. But I believe that it is still a worthwhile exercise for us to think through the logic of the two formulae presented above. The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us always, Keith
