Hi all,

I think if we understand the difference between works of Law in Rom 3:27,28 and the works of obedience in Js 2:20-26, we will save ourselves from "wanderings in the wilderness" and never get into the "promised land" of enjoying the fruit of Biblical treasures. We do well to rightly divide the word of truth.

It is very clearly established in Rom that we are justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law. This is non-negotiable. Salvation is by grace through faith NOT BY OBSERVING THE RITUALS OF THE LAW.

However, in Js 2:20-26, it was recorded that when Abraham and Rahab was COUNTED righteous (justified by God), their faith was made COMPLETE by their obedience of works. In Abraham's case, he obeyed God and offered his son Isaac to be sacrificed. In Rahab's case, she took in the spies and sent them away by a different route in obedience to God.

The Amplified Bible says in Js 2:24, "You see that a man is justified (pronounced righteous before God) through what he does and not alone through faith [through works of obedience as well as by what he believes].

That's why the Bible says in Rom that we are not under Law but under grace. In Eph 2:8,9 it says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works (not the observance of the Law's demands-Amplified), lest anyone should boast." And do not neglect v 10 which says, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." In short, we are saved BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN THE FINISHED WORKS OF CHRIST AT THE CROSS WHICH IS COMPLETE AND NOT BY OBSERVING THE RITUALS(WORKS) OF THE LAW and we are saved FOR GOOD WORKS OF OBEDIENCE. So, are we having a living faith. A living faith will result in a lifestyle of obedience to God.

In summary, my equation will be LIVING FAITH = FAITH + WORKS OF OBEDIENCE (Js 2:26).

Are you ready to enter the promised land of enjoying the fruit of Bible treasures or the "milk and honey" of God's word?

"Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the day of the rebellion."

Let Christ be formed in us,
