Hi, I am surprised that the Wesleys have different opinions. I have never heard of this before. No wonder, I find that Charles Wesley's hymns are very evangelical and contains great scriptural truths. Btw, I have been to the room where Charles Wesley used to compose his hymns and also seen the organ which he used. Calvin is not easy and will have to take time. Do you know that his Institutes of the Christian Religion was one of the top books that shook the Western world at that time. The other was Sir Isaac Newton's Pricipia (Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica). Before men like them it is little known that it was the golden age of the Arabs and their religion, while Europe was in the Dark Ages and the church in apostasy. The Reformation freed people's minds from fear and superstitions and while Luther and Calvin restored the Church, Newton caused at least four revolutions in science and mathematics and laid the foundations of the scientific method. The result is our present world order which has its foundations in Christianity and Science. I believe in the providential goverment of God here and now on earth and nothing happens by chance except by the will of God. Bye Bye and God Bless. |
