Dear J36
You are right to say that there are more converts nowadays. However, I defer from you seeing only a few disciples of Jesus. What makes a disciple? Doesn’t he/she first have to go through conviction, repentance and finally forgiveness of sins before one could start on the long and narrow journey to be Christ-like? The problem does not lie on the number of disciples, the main problem is that we have very few mentors. Jesus devoted most of His ministry time demonstrating, educating and sanctifying the twelve, preparing them for the work after He is gone. Have we such devoted servants to pass on the flame? We have a lot of tender shoots, but if we do not take care of them and transplant them to good soil, they will soon wither and die. Why are we living in an exciting hour? Remember Jesus’ word that when we see the new leaves on the fig tree, we know that summer is near. You might think that there is lots of people church bouncing, but if there are no new converts, our churches will soon become like those in Europe, good only for Bingo sessions. Why do you think that even if the pastors are speaking more from their ego than His wisdom, God is still moving His Spirit to convict and turn the hearts of people? I believe an hour will come that no longer will it be like now that we are free to speak of the Lord. The darkness prophesied in Revelation will descend, sooner than we thought. Pardon me if my choice of words are limited, but I could see more and more people are searching the Words themselves rather than rely on what is been preached over the pulpit. Jesus describe His church is been sowed with weeds among the wheat field that he will harvest. However, He would not uproot the weeds before both had blossom into full grain. The increasing wickedness will make many hearts turn cold, hence, we must stand firm in Him so we could be of good use when it is time for us to be called. Dear brother, we are at the doorway to the day of His coming. Learn the lesson from the five virgins who are prepared with extra oil in anticipating the coming of Christ.
