Hi,
I have been trying to put to death of 'self' and self-centered life I have for some time now as well. I have, contrary to your experience, been haveing much joy, no worries in life and come to a point where I enjoy true happiness and Joy of God. It is not easy, but it is the only way. Why do you think we say 'Trust and Obey' ..?? I am talking about the 'obey' part here. We obey God and heed His advice to put other's first for exmaple. I am not talking about any counselling, psychiatric or Psychological 'self' destruction techniques.... But as Jesus said, 'DENY YOUR SELF AND CARRY MY CROSS'...that is what I am talking about........ That is the old gosple. I also do not subscribe to the new Gosple, where, 'feel good' concept is the focus. Denying your self is hard, since we are so in tune with getting what we want......... BTW: How can you talk about self-confidence if you believe the old gosple?? Self- Confidence is only found inthe new Gosple. We should have God-Confidence or Jesus-Confidence, not Self-Confidence.!!!! Jesus never asked us to be self-confident, but asked us to Trust Him and do good. ( Psalms 37 ) Trust HIM. not in self.
