Hi, Yes, okay I know what you are talking about. On 'denying yourself', yah right - Calvin begins his Institutes with that. Jesus taught that. So, shouldn't be a problem. My nightmare problems started with some of your top preachers. In fact I can still remember the sermons. The preacher said believing in Jesus Christ will get you nowhere. Another said you shouldn't have self-confidence but have what you call 'God-confidence'. I suppose, after my long years of research into Historical Christianity, Calvinism, Anglicanism and Psychology, you can guess what I think about such preachers now. If you do enjoy your brand of christianity, I am not going to try and change it. But if you do get into trouble be advised that there are other versions of christianity which are healthy, wholesome and will give you joy and peace of mind. But be also advised that it is very difficult to get rid of some of those things which are programed into your sub-conscious mind. One reason why you have a very high drop-out rate. Many people just give up and quit. Oh, btw, if you were to give me a hundred million US dollars, I don't think I would want to return to the version of christianity you are talking about. I know it like the back of my hand. Sorry, but that is the way I feel about it. I can honestly thank God that I am totally out of it now and it is nice to be free in mind and spirit. Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Bye Bye: |
