Hi Keith, I agree with most of what you said, because what you say is supported by Scriptures and they are not of your own imaginations. But I have some questions for you: You wrote: “i'm convinced that i'm seeing my Father correctly and i'm understanding His Grace accurately. but this doesn't mean that i think differing views held by other brothers and sisters in Christ are wrong. i don't believe i have to put down another person's view just to affirm my own.” If you are convinced that you are correct in your understanding, what sense does it make when you said in the same breath that“this doesn't mean that i think differing views held by other brothers and sisters in Christ are wrong”? Your view is correct and “differing views” are not wrong? Are you trying to keep the peace at the expense of what you know is the truth? Look at the attitude of Jesus Christ – did he try to keep the peace at the expense of God’s Word? What is Scriptures for? I Tim 3: 16 “All scripture is given … for reproof, for correction …”. If we are not able to in love show a brother from Scriptures that what he believes in is wrong, then may the wisest thing to do is to shut up. But if are able to, then we should be “speaking the truth in love” Eph 4:15, and we must not shut up – Jesus Christ didn’t shut up, Paul didn’t shut up, even though it spelt great trouble for them. Neither did they accommodate and say my view and your views though different from mine are all fine as far as God is concerned. You wrote: “as i've said earlier, i believe my Father's house is big enough to accomodate all kinds of sons and daugthers who see things differently from all sorts of angles.” Out of His grace God will receive all believers into the heavenly places in the ages to come because of Christ’s death on the cross. But do you think God is happy when He looked at the numerous disagreements there are among believers today? Do you think He will say to us, now come on, don’t take My Word too seriously, they are burdensome at best and confusing at worst, just get on with the business of keeping the peace and loving each other? I can't keep shut up, Keith, because I believe the issue here is the Word of God vs our relationship with men. |
