Hi Keith, If a child has a bullying father and it has a perception of him as a real superhero, are you going to accommodate or to immediately correct that perception? Analogies (with all their limitations) aside, you were talking about eternal security, remember? This is a doctrine that may have an impact on what kind of gospel message a person you may present. No eternal security, your good works count towards your salvation. Gospel message? Believe Christ died for your sins, you believe that, good, you are saved, but remember to bear fruits/do good works or else you will not be saved. As this issue of eternal security may impact the eternal destiny of man, I don’t think we can with a good conscience before God try to bypass it without going to the Scriptures for an answer. One more thing before I end: Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Now who says that? That’s right, it’s your Father from heaven. Would you want to disobey His Word and continue to teach people otherwise, telling them it is fine if they want to remain as immature children as far as understanding of God’s Word is concerned. I believe the Father wants every child of His to behave. |
