Hi LBS, Keith's stand is very similar to yours on salvation by grace. All he stands for, is to present the truth of the Word of God, and then leave it to the Holy Spirit to effect the change in those who require to hear it. A correct biblical perspective on this, if I might add to it. I think in Romans 3:10 as well as in Isaiah's prophecy, it talks about no one has been found righteous on earth, and then it talks about Christ who is our righteousness. The following portion is for those who stand by FAITH + WORKS = RIGHTEOUSNESS Certainly, would it not be clear for those who preach about FAITH + WORKS = RIGHTEOUSNESS, that it is no different from keeping the Old Covenant, hence negating the New Covenant, which is representation of the blood and body of Christ: the Holy Communion. What is the Old Covenant? What is the New Covenant? Once these 2 questions are answered, would all these issues of salvation by grace be resolved, along with whether faith + works = righteousness. Titus 3:3-8: "At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone." What does Paul want Titus to stress in Titus 3:8, in order for people to do good? Surely, it was about Titus 3:1-7! And who is mentioned Titus 3:1-7? Christ Jesus our Saviour, Kindness and love of God our Saviour, washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. |
