You are correct to say that Jesus is not talking about doctrine, as this is as good as claiming that the way the Pharises treated the Scriptures was right. However, I disagree that we should look just at the viewpoint of salvation and claim we are one with Him already. Jesus told us to abide in Him and He will abide in us. This is continious and He still leave it to our free will whether to follow His way or our own. We can be proclaimed set free after baptism, but goes right back to our old ways and live just like we had before we went into the water. Even Peter, the only one who acknowledge Jesus as the son of the Living God, denied Him three times a few days later. Jesus' life on earth is His desire for those that come after His disciples to follow but few and far between are those who truely walk this way. One question: Who's glory are we carrying?
