Hi Raymond,
Maybe the Amplified Bible can help you to understand Rom 5:7.
Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor someone might even dare to die. Maybe if a benefactor has done something to save you from a "life and death situation", because you owe his life to him, you might dare to die for him if it is warranted. In v 8, it says about the love of God which is more than extraordinary compared to what is aforesaid in v 7. Christ or God died for sinners(what have we done or who are we to merit his love) - what kind of response or emotion should this evoke? Many songs have been written about the love of God. Just to name two.
LOVE DIVINE, ALL LOVES EXCELLING, JOY OF HEAVEN, TO EARTH COME DOWN; FIX IN US THY HUMBLE DWELLING; ALL THY FAITHFUL MERCIES CROWN! JESUS THOU ART ALL COMPASSION, PURE, UNBOUNDED LOVE THOU ART; VISIT US WITH THY SALVATION; ENTER EVERY TREMBLING HEART - CHARLES WESLEY, 1707-1788
WE REJOICE, WE REJOICE IN THE NAME OF THE LORD WE REJOICE IN HIS LOVE TODAY BY HIS LOVE WE CAN CONQUER AND DO ANYTHING WE REJOICE IN HIS LOVE TODAY
BOUNDLESS LOVE, BOUNDLESS LOVE HE HAS CONQUERED ALL OF DEATH AND THE GRAVE BOUNDLESS LOVE, BOUNDLESS LOVE BY HIS LOVE OUR SOULS ARE SAVED What boundless and excelling love of God in that He humbled Himself to die at the cross for sinners! Indeed, the Son of God became man so that man can become the sons of God, His new creation. Father God wants to transform us from within, not through man's work of reformation, to be conformed to the image of His Son so that Jesus might become "the firstborn among many brethren". This is the consuming purpose of God for our lives. TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Let Christ be formed in us,
