I mean, self must die...for Christ is living in us.......
I believe that the spark that we need for a true revival is for each saints's self to die..... How or what does this mean ? First we must understand that we don't belong to ourselves. The phrase 'It is MY life' must never be uttered and meant that way by a saint, because it is not true. ( Romans 1:6 - including yourselves who are called to belong to Jesus Christ; Galatians 5:24 - And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ) second, we must know that we belong to God and that we serve Him and that in a sense we are 'slaves' to Him. I guess, maybe none of us have ever been a slave in this physical world in a slave trade sense, so may be we find it hard to imagine. But the idea is that we do what our master says. ( Romans 6:22 - But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the return you get is sanctification and its end, eternal life. ) How do we treat things that don't belong to us ? ( If you borrow your uncles car for example, we take extra care not to crash ) Similarly, we don't belong to us!!! Third, We should not be pre-occupied with ourselves!!! This I find is very hard most of the time in Singapore, since we are contantly driven to succeed and perform, but nevertheless, we must not be pre-occupied with all these things that focus on self too much. THINK of others first !!!! Put others first.... Consider others better that your self..!!!!! Put other's needs ABOVE your needs..... ( Philippians 2:3 - Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves ) These are but a few I can thinkof this at this time. I am sure there is much more practical steps we can take. think about it.... -John666
