Dear brothers and sisters in Christ...
I am currently serving my National Service in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). I find that it is quite a tremendous struggle to maintain my spiritual walk with God in this environment... not only does our schedule often make it virtually impossible to find time for daily Bible Study and prayer time of any real substance, but, more fundamentally, I find myself drained daily by the sheer "ungodliness" (to put it rather bluntly) of living the military life -- the values to which we are supposed to subscribe seem so very much in opposition to what I as a Christian believe, and frankly I feel that I am dishonouring God by leading my life this way (even if it is mainly because I have no other choice).... I just wondered if anyone out there might have any perspectives or comments to share on this issue of trying to live a Christian life within the military context (particularly when one is among the literal 'rank-and-file' rather than the 'elite')... I deeply yearn for some godly advice in this area... Thanks and God bless.. niv
