U see..that's where we differ.. we are talking about two completely definitions.. Please understand that I am not coming from a point of superiority or " I am right and you are wrong". Hope you can trust me on that.. :P .. I hold your definition of sanctification and obedience 5 year ago until the Word sets me free.. That's why I say I got you and know where you are coming from.. I was there.. the definition you gave is not yours alone but what the whole evangelical hold more or less. That's where they miss it.. That's why most Christians life are hard.. How sanctified is sanctified ? How "obedient to God" is obedience is considered good enough for God to move and bless? Nobody can answer that..as a result, nobody has faith that God will really move because at all time, believer are very conscious of their failings and disobedient.. am I right? Now, lets use the Word to interpret the Word and not what is traditionally preached and believed..ok.. Sanctifications basically means to be make Holy, to be set apart (in Hebrew). How are we make holy and set apart ? Jesus' answer : John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. How does God set us apart and make us holy ? By His Word of truth.. We are sanctified not by own trying but by sitting down and listen to the Word of Truth. Like Mary, who choose the good part and end up doing the right thing (fruits) by anointing jesus for His burial. Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, ..... Brother, u see..sanctification has got nothing to do with us as some would believe. I know the main line churches believe that somethings santification means no tv, no porno ( please I am not promoting), don't eat this, don't eat that, don't wear this, don't listen to these musics, no MTV, no gambling etc etc but this is not what God is saying... He sets you (sanctify, make you Holy) apart with His Word...of love and truth. If you are fill with a revelation of His love t for you...man..you be so filled with His spirit ( Eph 3: 17 -19), and answered prayer will be a common thing (Rom 8:32) and begin to reign in this life (Rom 5:17) for you will walk as He walk (1John 4:17). Nobody is a sucker for the Love of God then John the apostle..He is always talking about the love of God..that means there is something about the love of the father that we don't know yet.. that can propel us to another level of victorious living.. Whew...hope I didn't bore you.. the second point about odebience is even longer but necessary..so let just talk about this point first..one by one ok.. :) The Evangelical and the main line church also has preach this point wrongly.. I say in humility but I know because I was also there..life was miserable.. but understanding that We are loved and blessed by Our Father without any of our own effort unconditional 24/7 really sets me free to receive.. Actually..God make the gospel so easy, makes receiving from him so easy that it takes a religious human nature to mess things up. We are all like that in one way or another.. :) let me hear your feedback..and what you think about the above points.. let me knowif I have been unscriptural.. ES
