Hwoever, the propserity gospel is not the gospel of the scriptures. You are right to say that God blesses us, some rather 'richly'. If you look at Timothy...
When He gives, its for sharing....see this passage.. 17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life Surely this tells us that when he gives richly, its for the purpose of distribution. AND not everyone can handle riches. I guess yr friend is one of those who CAN and God is using him to distribute this wealth for His purposes. There are lots like these, but it has NO PLACE in the Gospel. This is a calling of administration and giving. It is a gift. Again, I use the church in Smyrna as the example against a teaching that wealth is part of the Gospel. IT IS NOT..CLEARLY. You are right that we hold onto the eternity that God has brought us into as the above passage says. In Christ Jesus prophet
