Hi Interested, When you say I am assured of my salvation, there must be a basis on which you stand on your statement which you need not share here. Just like Paul, on the basis of his courage in service and commitment to Christ, he can say with the fullest assurance in 2 Tim 1:8-12 (NKJV) Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works (self-righteousness), but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I AM NOT ASHAMED, for I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED and AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE TO KEEP WHAT I HAVE COMMITTED TO HIM UNTIL THAT DAY. I must contend that to say, "Once saved, always saved" is always not a safe position to be in because it tends to cheapen grace and encourage "easy believism" since nowhere in the NT teaches that believers are completely free from sin while living in the body of flesh and in a fallen world (Phil 2:12,13; 2 Cor 8:12,13, etc). In 1 Cor 6:20, it says, "For you were bought with a PRICE, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's." I am not trying to disagree with you when you say I am assured of my salvation. I thank God that you are fully asssured of your salvation because I know that like Paul you are fully persuaded that He will not fail you nor forsake you since you are committed to Him. PRAISE THE LORD! For in Him we live, and move and have our being, |
