Dear Ivan,
Let me cite some valid verses to you before we touch on the topic of "coincidence" like the thief, I am sure you aren't comparing us to the thieves unless we are to going to die the next few minutes or hours after receving Christ, haha, thats a joke. You cannot blindly see things in one dimension and confided in yourself the assurance of your private interpretation.1st cite : 2 Peter 1:20 and 1 Cor 11:2.
Following verses naming the need for water baptism and Spirit Baptism as One. For the people in the olden days, for the proselytes, they are of fire baptism, if you know about this.
---John 3:3-5
---Acts 10:47-48 (They have been thru the Baptism of water by Joh the Baptist, but they were those before Jesus was Baptised. Not saying this a a strong point, from what I learnt in the Book of Acts course, as far as this group of people were concerned, they haven been baptised by the Holy spirit at all before the apostles after the pentecost re-baptised them with the Holy Ghost. For the Holy Ghost is granted to a person a upon his baptismal promise and baptism rite, only after Jesus was ascended into heaven.)

"Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them" (John 20:22-23); "But you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of our God" (I Corinthians 6:11); "The charity of God is poured forth in our hearts, by the Holy Ghost, who is given to us" (Romans 5:5).

A person cannot enter into the Kingdom of God without being baptized in some form. Scripture does not exclude infants or children. Infant baptism has been going on since early Christian times. Christ does not make an "exception" for infants anywhere in the Gospel. Therefore, some non-Catholic Christian denominations who only baptize adults, put children and infants at risk. The risk may be limbo. Although it is not an official doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church, limbo is said to be reserved for unbaptized infants. It is a place of happiness, but without the great joy of being with God Himself. Would not "whole households," as stated in Scripture, include infants and children?

---- Luke 7:29-30
----Acts 16:15
As a rule, however, those sects which believe in baptism at the present time, recognize water as the necessary matter of the sacrament. Scripture is so positive in its statements as to the use of true and natural water for baptism that it is difficult to see why it should ever be called in question. Not only have we the explicit words of Christ (John iii v) "Unless a man be born again of water", etc., but also in the Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles of St. Paul there are passages that preclude any metaphorical interpretation Thus (Acts, x, 47) St Peter says "Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized?"
Those who have held that "water" in the Gospel text is to be taken metaphorically, appeal to the words of the Precursor (Matt., iii), "He shall baptize you in the Holy Ghost and fire ". As "fire" must certainly be only a figure of speech here, so must "water" in the other texts. To this objection, it may be replied that the Christian Church, or at least the Apostles themselves, must have understood what was prescribed to be taken literally and what figuratively. The New Testament and church history prove that they never looked on fire as a material for baptism, while they certainly did require water. Outside of the insignificant sects of Seleucians and Hermians, not even heretics took the word "fire" in this text in its literal meaning. We may remark, however, that some of the Fathers, as St. John Damascene (Orth. Fid., IV, ix), concede this statement of the Baptist to have a literal fulfillment in the Pentecostal fiery tongues.

Shalom,

Emmanuel
