>>I don't know if the current unusual fear of the devil is found in the English churches or not.
I do not know the answer to your question, except to say that from what little I've been reading of the Reformers (who aren't exactly English), there is seldom this prolonged talk of demons, demonic forces, strategies, "fengshui" (e.g. must bless every corner of the house) etc. Why would you want to focus your mind on the Devil if you can focus on God? I used to have great fear of what the evil forces were capable of, after I read this "spiritual warfare" book by an eminent representative of the subject. Wow! So evil spirits attach themselves to objects, places, and persons! So frightening! They could be everywhere! Must be very, very careful with what souvenirs you bring home! To be safe, better don't buy anything new! BRR! Thank the Lord above I've gotten over this paranoia. Sometimes I think Christians are more superstitious than we would like to think ourselves to be.
