On upon your "church idea", I already made known to you clearly, I am saying church is a community of believers gathered, worshipped and grow in faith. Thats my concept of church. ++Is that all you believe about church? Is that your RCC heritage? Or did you leave out the role of the sacramental priesthood and the attending elements? I have this feeling that you have not defined your belief clear enough. On the surface it does sound "protestant" or NT enough, but deeper investigation may prove otherwise. About church (Building), its a building, a place where we used it to gather and do our most activities there, it belongs to everyone, ++You make it sound so innocent, as if people have no deep-set beliefs about church buildings. You are wrong. Haven't you already betrayed your understanding of church buildings by referring to the old covenant temple earlier? The truth is, church buildings are not so theologically void as many claim to be! not someone's house today, another's next Sunday. ++And why not? That's the way the early church met. Acts 2 says "And day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart..." There is no Holy See that looks for faulty teachings or wrong guidiance at all. ++What's a holy see? Is that in the Scriptures? Do you have a biblical basis for such a notion? And BTW, who were primarily tasked with teaching sound doctrines in the NT? A clue for you: it ain't the pope! This is a disadvantage of bening in an independent church, the chief pastor of the church is sort of head. He says and no one reject. ++FYI, I reject the notion of a chief pastor. And secondly, your own charge backfires on you. How is that different from you having a pope? Or perhaps it's about jurisdiction? So if protestant churches have a chief super-pastor that is in charge of all protestant churches in the world (I don't know what title they would give that rivals the pope) you are OK with that? I guess not. Before coming to any doctrinal conclusion, there is no group of pastors sharing in deciding upon the final answer in prayers, bad enough, even pastors from other same Protestant churches were not connected to the doctrinal meeting. ++That's a fact of being human isn't it? There are always things to disagree on this side of life. Even your RCC is not spared of that, and you had the "advantage" of the pope! Do we need a church of its head pastor driving a BMW 7 series? Or a new church built of 17th - 18th floor in Jurong with breaking of some world guiness record? ++What are you driving (pardon the pun) at? Do we have a diocese to take care of these serious problems? ++What's a diocese like in the NT? Or in connection with brother churches in other countries? A church is not just based on one one who disagreed with its fellow elders and go forth building another with some of his followers and show that theirs will succeed too! ++That's a good observation. So tell me, how does a church comes into existence according to the NT? A book of Acts and give you a notion of House Church? ++Then what do you think, the institutional church? If reading Acts gives you no idea of house churches, then what does that leave you with? If you are blind to the statements "church that meets in the house of so-and-so" written in so many parts of the NT, then for sure your RCC heritage has robbed you of a vital heritage, that of reading God's Word in its plain meaning! How I hope that every Christian's house can be church! 1st,. cut cost, 2nd, everyone takes turn to consecrate a Holy Communion, how fun? ++Why do you poke fun at this? This was what the early church enjoyed and what many house churches enjoy today. Do you scorn at their freedom of expression or do you want them to be bound by the traditions that you are? There is no free luncheon on earth, ok? ++What's your point? A church is a fellow community of God based on foundation on the Word "Liturgy" and are you simply arguing that the current situations are not "fine" as what I said? ++Show me a NT church meeting that has the semblance of a liturgy taking place. And I am not simply arguing, I am proclaiming to you God's Word on this subject. Then the early believers' effort were drained away coz' before 10th century, there was not a single House church at all! ++Well, first that's an admission on your part that house churches existed, at least for 1000 years. Secondly, you need to read more. FYI, house churches have ALWAYS existed right down church history. Why in this century, there were so many changes done to Christian matters? You would say its God who caused all the changes, me? God already planned everything well to the end, instead of changing this and that, why not we use our precious time to help in charity and evangelisation? ++Ahh, charity and evangelism, two of the most lauded goals to get rid of any disagreement or to whitewash any doctrinal differences. It's about the Word of God, once we get back to God's Word, you don't have to worry about charity and evangelism undone. Its because the end is near, lots of things will change and deceive our perception of the truth. ++That's true. So let's not deceive ourselves that being under a well organised church setup with a pope will accord any sense of security. |
