Altered states of conciousness: (ASC)
It can happen to anyone if we let external influences take over our control. We are constantly using our bains. No one need to work on your bain per se. For exmaple, if we repeat words, sentences or even songs over and over again many many times, a person can go to an ASC. ( This is precisly why God forbid us to repeat things - I cannot find the reference at this time ). You know about the mantras of the yogi's and gurus of India, they repeat and repaet until they get an ASC, ( mainly in buddhism ) and then they think they are in Nirvana, but it is an ASC. Even YOGA can do this to you. Another method to get an ASC is by letting down your natural thinking abilities and to foolishly follow what the preacher is saying. Some are encouraged to leave the brain at the door and 'just let go of our inhibitions'. It is called the power of suggestion. When we trust the preacher too much this can easily happen. That is why we must be like the bereans, who checked daily if what Paul preached was right ! Another method is to have a particular type of music, a repeating kind. ( Have you heard those indian chatings normally happen with a repeating bell sound ? ) If the music is very loud and very repetitious, it also encourages a person to go to the ASC. If I look at the church services today, I do see many of such devices being used ! I do get the creeps at times. That is why I Do NO repeat some verses in the same song over and over again even if the worship leader does it. So, in conclusion, the place where we can have an ASC is most likely where we let our guards down! the Church! -John666
