Hi John666,
To be sure, christians (not just charismatics) are not immune to psychological problems. But by God's grace, we have the promise and hope of healing and wholeness in Him. Christians who are genuinely serious about following Christ (many of whom are our very fervent charismatic brothers and sisters) often struggle because of the continuous and persistent conflicts between the flesh and the Holy Spirit in us. When such believers (both charismatics and non-charimatics alike) not sure of their security in the love of our Father and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, they won't be able to truly rest in the Spirit. They may experience unhealthy fears and unnecessary anxieties. They may be under constant pressure to "perform" so as to please God and avoid losing favour with Him. They may try so hard and struggle so much that they eventually develop pyschological problems. It is therefore important for believers have an accurate knowledge of our Father's everlasting love and mercy for us, our security in our Lord Jesus Christ - the Eternal High Priest and the True Sabbath, and the peace we freely enjoy in the Holy Spirit. Blessings, Keith
