for the Kingdom of God is not only in word but in power (1 Cor 4:20). We do well to understand that God works through spiritual gifts to reproduce the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ in His church. Please recognise the importance of these gifts for dynamic ministry. (Refer to 1 Cor 12:4-11)
According to the footnotes given in the Spirit Filled Life Bible, Paul introduces 3 guiding principles that distinguishes the ways of the HOLY SPIRIT: 1)The principle of conscious control. Unlike paganism, the power of the Holy Spirit does not drive people into wild compulsive acts. His gentle dovelike ministry strengthens human personality. He empowers; He does not overpower(like a tyrant or autocratic manner). 2)The principle that Christ is glorified. All manifestations of the Spirit will harmonise with the truth about Jesus. 3)The principle of creedal faith. The main work of the Holy Spirit is to bring people under the lordship of Jesus. (Refer to 1 Cor 12:2,3)
