<<<You say: Are you telling us that there are people now who can do what Jesus did when He was on earth? If so the only thing to do is to give them a smile and leave them alone. >>>
The ministry of healing was given to "the seventy," and may I say represent the future workers of the church(Lk 10:1,9,19). It was given to all "them that believe" the gospel, them that act on the gospel, or the practicers or doers of the word (Mk 16:17). It is committed to "the elders" of the church (Js 5:14). It is bestowed upon the whole Church as one of its ministries and gifts, until Jesus comes (1 Cor 12:9,10). Jesus never commissioned anyone to preach the gospel without including healing for the sick. He said, "Whatever city you enter, heal the sick that are there" (Lk 10:8,9). That command still applies to gospel ministry today. Jesus said that He would continue His same works through believers while He is with the Father. "Verily, verily, I say to you, the person that believes on me, the works that I do shall he (or she) do also; and greater works than these shall they do; because I go to my Father" (Jn 14:12). This certainly includes healing the sick. Jesus said that certain teachers were "making the word of God of no effect through (their) tradition" (Mk 7:13). Human ideas and theories have for centuries hindered the healing part of the gospel from being proclaimed and acted upon as it was by the early Church. You can choose to leave them alone and smile to encourage them on in this healing ministry. Or you can be part of the minitry team to minister healing to the sick. <<<You say: I suppose such people can also walk on water, raise the dead, feed 5000 people with two loaves and five fishes, be resurrected after dying and ascend into heaven and so on. >>> Remember all things are possible with God. Just because we dont see it around us, does not negate or invalidate the power of God to perform signs and wonders. While I am writing this post, miracles of God are happening through the Christian ministries to the sick and hungry hearts of the unreached and underprivileged people in the Third World countries and to the orphanages with God's miraculous supply of provisions to the orphans. We have come across reports of whole tribe of 10 villages coming to Jesus with the resurrection of Chief Haribo hailed from the rugged, hilly island in a distant part of the South Pacific, who passed away in the presence of the Christian workers and the tribesmen. (You can read the full account from Dick Eastman's book "Beyond Imagination", Chapter 15 on Mountains of Mystery) It could well change your thinking about the miraculous. I hope that you will no more stay outside of "God's garden" in skepticism after reading these reports. <<You say: I think I better stick with the Christ of the Bible. >>> Yes, continue to abide in Christ and let the life of Christ flow out of you that you become a blessed channel or carrier of God's power to be a blessing to others. Let's abide in Christ,
