You tend to harp on the fact that Salvation depends entirely on God. The verse you quoted in Rom 9:16 speaks of salvation being God's idea and not man; it also speaks of man's self-effort or self-righteousness practised by other religions cannot save us. It does not mean that man has no choice in receiving God's plan of salvation which is God's idea or will. Therefore the salvation plan is not man's will or idea. Your understanding or thinking needs to be renewed here.
Since it is God's idea, humanity has to come on God's terms to receive His salvation ie, to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour. No other means and no other name. It speaks of God's mercy. Let me ask you who is fit to be saved. The answer is NONE! for the Bible says "there is none righteous, no not one". ALL are fitted for destruction. So, the next question: Who make us fit to be saved? The answer is, you guess it, JESUS! So, our salvation is dependent on God's mercy. It is God's desire that none should perish, but that all should come to repentance. What this verse is saying is not all are saved which is implied here (all SHOULD come to repentance); there are some who wilfully reject and not willing to come to repentance and receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Let them know that God is merciful by sending His only Beloved Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of humanity in order to save them from destruction. So, plead with them to make a right and wise choice for Jesus today! Man needs to hear the Gospel of Jesus to know how they can be saved from their sins. I maintain that God did not fix who to be saved and who to be destroyed for the very fact that man is created with a moral choice of rejecting Jesus or else there is no demonstration of our true belief in Jesus. Remember the Adam and Eve episode in the Garden of Eden. May the Lord keep us from error,
