but if you try to understand the "Election" concept from the said Dictionary in a linear manner like what JD did, you may remain confuse. I have already clearly stated that "Election" is a sovereign choice for eg when it applies to salvation, the way to receive salvation is fixed - Election is in and through Jesus only - but God did not fix some to be saved and others to be destroyed. Because the Bible says very clearly that Jesus did not come to condemn but to save. Furthermore in 2 Pet 3:9, Apostle Peter says "it is His desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance." It is man's responsibility to choose to be saved or to come under the wrath of God though God knows who will be saved and who will be destroyed because He is all-knowing.
So, the linear thinking will be this: If you think that God fixes the plan of salvation, therefore He fixes some to be saved and others to be destroyed. Man has no real choice because everything is fixed by God. And worst of all, that God desires some to be destroyed. This thinking is erroneous. To fully understand the subject on "Election" perfectly, let's pick up from the other side as SBG suggested in her posting.
