I was very involved with this subject when I was investigating Calvinism and it took me about five years to come to a reasonable conclusion. But the latest understanding on Probability and Determinism seems to throw better light on the subject in question and so I think the Arminians and Calvinist will go on arguing till the end of the world but I don't believe they have the tools to solve the problem.

For this you have to go into the world of Statistics. You must understand that God himself is very brilliant in mathematics and physics and what we now know is only a tiny part of what He knows. Nowadays if you go to bookshops and browse around you will see books on Statistical this and Statistical that, e.g. Statistical Physics, Statistical Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, etc. These are not my subjects but I have been doing a lot of thinking on the world of Probability. I was very interested in why a group a church people can go to a Church camp and meet with a accident on the way; then there was this Anglican pastor who smashed his car into a truck and died when he was still young, why? One of the major issus was that Calvin said that when a lightning strikes a person it is because it is God's will. I don't think Calvin was right and so I did quite a lot of investigations into the world of Probability.

The old Laplace Demon has been laid to rest and I now understand that the world is probabilistic. Calvinism is a kind of Christian determinism. But I think the latest concepts in Probability gives a better explaination of the Bible.

This is a very difficult subject and you won't be able to find anybody to help you here. You have to think like mad and most probably you have to study on your own.

For a start you have to understand the concept of "multiplicity of causes". The subject of "cause and effect" is itself difficult. God is not always the cause of everything but is always the First Cause. For example if God causes A and A causes B which it turn causes C and this goes on to D, E, F and so on we have a multiplicity of causes. But you cannot say that God is the cause of say E. For example God made man but if down the line the man becomes a murderer (e.g. Cain) you cannot say that God caused him to be a murderer. His becoming a murderer was probably caused by genetics, childhood experiences, environment, sin and so on. This is a simple example but the real world is very complex and without mathematics I don't beleive it is possible to get anywhere in understanding such things. So while God is the First Cause of all things He is not the cause of lots of things in the world.

But the good news is that God is very brilliant and He knows how to bring good out of evil, i.e. things going wrong in His creation. You must always bear in mind that God is a very brilliant mathematician.

You will have to learn to reconcile science and theology if you want to go far in this subjects.

You talk about a future. Are you sure there is a future in God's thinking or is it an ever present? The future is a funciton of time, right? Some of Einstein's theories might help.

Bye Bye:
