Regarding the car example, Yes, even though the pistons are free to move, they cannot move any which they want. They can move according to the law of the Engine. ( When one piston is up the other is down ). So ina sense it is restricted freedom.
I am not sure if it applies and if it is a good example, but nevertheless, a close one. One statement you made: "It is not possible to know what is fixed and what is variable from God's point of view. " For God, there is nothing variable. Since He knows it all, all is Fixed for Him. If you are saying that WE cannot see it from God's perspective, I agree. Not until we meet Him face to face. -JD36
