"Oness doctrine, eternal security, self proclaimed visionaries and prohecies......There is no such thing as modernisation in the Christendom, for all trends come not from God, but by hands of humans alone. If Tom, Dick and Harry just quarrel with their church elders and go ahead open an independent church, who guarantees he is teaching the right concept? Like this everywhere also got personal church already. Ignorance causes difussion." Yes, you're right that the Church should be unwavering in the doctrinal teachings that are given since the Apostolic times. i think the main problem we have ( besides what took place in the developments through the last 2 milleniums, and which we have no way of correcting the past) probably is centred on what is our interpretation of what is taught in the Holy Word of God. No easy answer but i believe our daily walk with the Lord and living in obedience to His Word will keep us from errors, no matter what we are taught by men, who in their own minds and ways are doing their utmost for His glory, rather than to destroy the church. Jesus also said that the Holy Spirit is given to us as our Paracletos, One called alongside to help, (Jhn 14:16) and to be with us forever (Jhn 14:16) and He being the Spirit of truth (Jhn 14:17) will guide us into all the truth (Jhn 16:13). Moreover, we also have the Written Word now complete and the Spirit of God cannot contradict His Word (2Peter 1:20,21). Having said this, i must add that alot of disagreements are due to misunderstandings of one another's doctrinal positions and interpretations of the Scriptures. Just a simple illustration, take daily communications in the office alone. How often are people agreeing 100 % with the sole vision of the Company? Many probably just keep silent and let a minority (hopefully those given the authority) take the lead in policies making and implementation of the day-to-day operations till they hit a crisis? Then they start to reengineer the company again to improve the working morale of the organisation. Not all will agree to the use of this illustration to demonstrate how churches go through changes though. Concerning leaving church due to disagreements and starting a new one , i think God need to give the sanction and the calling. Else i believe, it'll be just another fellowship at best but not a church. Shalom, sbg |
