This is the response to the "Slain by the Spirit", "Holy Laughter" & other stuff..."(# 645). I am sorry that I did not reply to questions earlier, I was very busy and the thread has grown in such a rate that it is quite difficult to follow all that was said. It is becoming clear to me that many Christians have a problem in believing that our God is a supernatural God. We have relegated Him into the pages of the Old Testament, where He did awesome wonders, visited His people in such power that the mountains smoked & shook in His presence. Some have been a little open in saying that God was still working in power at least until the Book of Acts. That is why some Christians today cannot believe that God is still healing people of their diseases and setting them free from every bondages, both physical and spiritual. Some have gone to say that the whole problem is psychology and it’s all in the mind (just as some new-agers would say). It’s pretty amazing to know Christians don’t know that we can heal the sick, cast out demons in Jesus’ name, just like Jesus did! Mark 16: 15-18, “And He said to them, “Go into all world and preach the gospel to the creation. He who BELIEVES and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And THESE signs will accompany those who BELIEVE; IN MY NAME they will CAST OUT DEMONS; they will SPEAK IN NEW TOUGUE; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink and deadly thing, it will not hurt them; THEY WILL LAY HANDS ON THE SICK, AND THEY WILL RECOVER.” If the above is the very word of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God and is in the Bible, the Word of God and if that is the Great Commission and if the Great Commission still applies to us in this age and day; then why don’t we believe it for what it really says? It really looks like the non-Christians are more open to the supernatural then many born-again Christians who worship a supernatural God. Don’t believe? Just look at the number of fortune-tellers, mediums & spiritualist that are around in Singapore. Just look at the increase in people getting into horoscope and Tarot card reading hotlines! Just look at youths who are indulge themselves in Ouija Boards even to extend of joining self-proclaimed satanic groups! Simply turn on your television and see many shows and cartoons there are about witches, witchcraft and horror shows that glorify the devil and demons! And what do Christians do? Sit around and speak of our God as a “has-been”. “That was the Old Testament”, “Jesus did that, are you sure it can be done now”, “It all ended with the last apostle”. These are some of the things we so readily say, in denial to the fact that “Jesus Christ is the same, YESTERDAY, TODAY & FOREVER” (Hebrews 13:8) What He did then, He can and will do it TODAY!! It is time that the church rises up from its slumber to the fact that we serve an AWESOME GOD and not someone who we can rationalize with our finite minds. “For My thoughts are not yours thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, SO ARE MY WAYS higher then your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9) “For what person knows a man’s thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also NO ONE comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.” (I Corinthians 2:11) It is very interesting to note that many Christians think they are advisers or consultants to God. He would not do something because they think it should not be done such a way, in such a manner. There’s a verse in the Bible that speaks so clearly about many in the Body of Christ, “The natural man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is NOT ABLE TO UNDERSTAND them because they are spiritually discerned.” (I Corinthians 2:14) Paul said, “…my speech and my words were not in plausible words of wisdom, BUT in DEMONSTRATION of the Spirit and of POWER, that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the POWER OF GOD.” (I Corinthians 2: 4-5) Now is not the time for words but POWER, not any man’s power, not any denomination’s power BUT the POWER OF GOD! “For the kingdom of God DOES NOT consist in talk BUT in POWER.” (I Corinthians 4:20) Someone said that the spiritual need is more important then the physical, maybe you could tell that to someone who has just one month left to live. Yes, where they go after they die is most important but God is concern about the whole being; body, soul & spirit. It is easy to tell someone a lot of things but it’s a total different thing to pray for them and see them healed! Yet another questioned if what Jesus did happens today. I have had the joy and privilege to be used by God to see healings that ONLY God can do, I mean instant healings. I also have seen demons scream and cover their ears when they hear the name of Jesus, having no choice but to leave the occupied person, only to seen them giving their lives to Jesus and living for Him. (I rejoice not because demons listen to me but because my name is written in heaven: Luke 10:20) God is still alive and doing what He has been doing all along! In the Nutshell I have to admit that the some Charismatics have enough hype until Jesus comes back. I have been in services where I thought I was in a WWF wrestling. I agree that some preachers think that by shouting and jumping around God’s presence and anointing is there. It is sad to see worship leaders trying to be like certain worship leader from down-under and worship teams trying to be like them. That’s not going to see revival but maybe just some emotional stir without much change. Laughing and falling have become a tradition in some places, it much happen then God is there. It is sad it see leaders leading the sheep in such shallow way rather teaching them to be grounded in the Word of God and learning how to lock in with God in the secret place. It is also not fair to throw everything out of the door and say that it is not of God. I have to make clear that NOT ALL that happens in such meetings are of God. There are three elements to consider: 1. God 2. The Flesh 3. The Devil We have to understand that there is no such thing as Perfect Revival, as God is working in and through imperfect us. There maybe the flesh manifesting in some ways. There is also the devil who likes to disturb to some extend. Barking like a dog, hissing like a snake or even meowing like a cat are some things that we have to careful of. Just last year we cast out demons from a woman who meows like a cat here in Singapore and have seen demons manifest like snakes. We need to know which is of God and which is not. There are many “Self-appointed Spiritual Concierges” in Singapore. They stand on the side and examine what is of God and what is not. They think they know it all. They never been hit by God’s Spirit and His power, in fact many even question if the Holy Spirit is still working or on official leave. You need to know the real in order to know the counterfeit. Those who work with currency will tell you that to know a counterfeit note, you need to have your hands trained with the real. The problem here is that this spiritual concierges don’t know the real. They don’t even believe the real. How can they know the false? The world is crying out for God, the true and supernatural God, which their inner man knows but being blinded to see. I can tell you that people are hunger for God, if not they will not pierce themselves with sharp objects in order to please their “gods”, fast and walk on fire do other ‘sincere’ things to find God. It is time to cry out like Elijah on Mount Carmel (I Kings 18: 20-40) “You call on the name of your god and I will call on the name of the LORD; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” (v.24) Our God is a supernatural God who will answer by FIRE! “For our God is a consuming fire!” (Hebrews 12:29) “Where is the Lord, God of Elijah?!” In His Name, Ian (Habakkuk 3:2) p.s.
