If you want my advice, the best thing is to stay away from all these manifestations because there is nothing in the Scriptures to support them. I have heard that you can be "knocked out" in such services even if you don't believe in such things. That is why I believe the whole thing is psychological.

A friend of Dr J.I. Packer whose theology is the same as his went to interview the famous Katherine Khulman. The interview went well and she was very friendly and cordial. At the end of the meeting he got up and went to the door to leave. She raised her hand and the next thing that happened was that the man was on the floor. He was just knocked out and he didn't know what happened. I understand that a pastor who didn't believe in such things went to the Indoor Stadium here and also found himself on the floor. So it is not a matter to take lightly.

St Paul said the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet and so anything that is outside the person's control must be viewed as unchristian. One of the fruit of the Spirit is self-control or temperance and St Paul wrote that in the context of spiritual gifts to the Corinthians.

I think it is wiser to listen to St Paul than all these modern christians. It won't do you much good to argue with them. The best thing is to leave them alone and search the Scriputres for yourself and if you cannot find it in the plain teachings of the Scriptures then it is perfectly all right to throw it out - the water, baby, soap and the bath-tub. But I think you need plenty of courage to stand on your own.

Note, if you stand on the plain teachings of the Bible only you won't go wrong. You can trust the Holy Scriptures because they are the inspired by the Holy Spirit.
