I believe Jesus also gave Authority to people though it may not have been recorded in the bible or perhaps not in the normal verbal form.
Here in Mark, we even see John questioning one who is driving out demons in Jesus name but HE IS NOT ONE OF THEM, which makes John wonder why he has the authority and thus posting the question to Jesus. NIV Mark 9:38-40 "Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us." "Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. I also believe authority is given to the church to pray for healing though healing ultimately come from God and not from man for PRAYER OFFERED IN FAITH WILL (not might or maybe BUT WILL) make the sick person well. Should we not take God at His Words ?? NIV James 5:14-15 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Matthew 18:18-20 "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Is this passage only meant for the disciples or are we to pick and choose which lines are applicable now ? Authority is indeed given to the people besides the one recorded that Jesus specifically gave authority. NIV John 14:11-14 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. God bless...
