I emphathise with you and Interested, as this current barrage of insults is certainly getting out of hand. First off, I would like to say to those who do and have not even picked Harry Potter book to read, and still choose to condemn it. I would say you are arguing from ignorance, and I would rather urge you to pick up the book, and read with discernment from the Holy Spirit and ask God for wisdom over this matter, trusting that He will protect you from the traps , snares and lures of the Evil One. For God will surely protect His children from all harm, for we are Christians (Christ means the Anointed One, so we are Little Anointed Ones, by taking on the title Christians) and when you seek to ask for wisdom and knowledge as Solomon did, God will graciously apportion it to you, so that your spirit man can perceive what is evil from that of good, for we believe that Jesus is in us. Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. Second off, to start to make judgement calls on fellow Christians, whose stand is to be wary of evil, instead of running away or avoiding evil, by their attempt to read books like Harry Potter, places all of us in dire straits by testifying that the Enemy has dominion over this issue, by causing dissension in the ranks of God's Kingdom. It would be more appropriate to fully appreciate the stand of those like Eveline and Interested, prior to calling them names. However, if any of you start to think that I am being biased, slanting my arguments towards the 2 of them, I would like to point out that as all of us constantly say:" Faith is like a mustard seed." Hence it is certainly meant to grow as we grow in the knowledge of God's perfect will and plan for us, is it not? Therefore, I can imagine that prior to their current stand, Eveline and Interested would have previously come from the same judgemental beliefs as some of us are currently struggling with. However, their experience with God and His word, has brought them to a new level of faith, to comprehend God's purposes and hence they have no fear of the Enemy's intent, and solely trust in the all-powerful God we serve. The danger instead, is reliogiosity that can entrap our minds to think that by not reading such books, we can keeping ourselves holy. True, we shall be kept holy by avoiding evil, but we will then be ignorant of the ways of the Evil One. If we believe that Jesus is our all sufficiency, then He shall be able to keep us from being sucked into the Wiccan Practice. In closing, no one party could be right for this matter. Instead, let us adopt a more open-minded approach, and agree to disagree and move on, for we could very well be used by the Evil One to sow discord within the Family of God. One last point to note, J.K Rowling's rise to fame seem to spark off once people started to comment about the imageries of withcraft and sorcery came into play, and to add to the fire, several Christian circles were led to believe that she had connections with Wiccan practice.
