Hi Ivan,
I have been following the discussion. I don't think it is getting anywhere. I see that Eveline is very adamant that she is right, esp. since she is well educated in lit. She does not see any danger in reading HP or letting her kids read them. I think it is best you leave it at that. Since after all she is still our sister.! I think when we want to do something we can always find a reason and an excuse. Even when things are pretty clear, it can be so, because our minds are evil beyong comprehension ( as God said ). We know that even if there are "good" books, movies ..etc out there, if it is 'objectionable' or 'clearly anti-christian' we should avoid it as much as possible. I know of good Christians who gave up thier jobs because they found the way their bosses use them in things contrary to thier beliefs. I have seen other cases where empolyees refuse to do someting the boss ask ( because of belief ) and got fired . I have seen many Christians who don't watch 'objectionable' stuff on TV/Movies..etc So I think they are wise. We don't have to be COmpletely ignorant of Evil around us, but we can EXPLAIN to our kids what is the danger of such things clearly ( take time ) and then give them the choice to do what they wish. I think this works best. We shouldn't FORCE them. Eveline, My request for you is to please take a another closer look ( start fresh ) and see if there is anything HONESTLY wrong with them in comparison with the Bible. Be honest with your self. If you still not convinced, ask God to show if it is OK. If you are still not convinced, do as you wish. May God open all our eyes. My personal view: It is dangerous and we shouldn't promote it. -JD.
