Well, then I suppose the fact that we believe in the saving grace of Christ Jesus, who descended from heaven to be borne of a virgin, died for the sins for the world and rose in victory over eternal death, granting eternal life for all who believe, makes little real difference then.
Churches and Christians nowadays seem to harp on so many rules, formulas, taboos and methodologies (e.g. 7 ingredients of faith petitions) that my real fear is that the fundamental message of saving faith in Christ has become irrevocably bundled up (and gotten lost) amidst the more visible benefits and responsibilities of membership (e.g. healing and deliverance, financial security, must attend cell group, join discipleship training, etc...). No wonder people raise their eye-brows when on one hand, we say that to be in Christ is to be free, and on the other, devote so much vehement energy to fighting strawmen and drawing up long lists of do's and don'ts. In disputable topics (be it reading a certain book or eating a certain food), let each make up his own mind and follow his conscience freely. I have no doubts about the evil of practicing sorcery and magick, but see no ill in reading its depiction in fiction or non-fiction and have neither seen nor received no concrete evidence that HP is a credible gateway to witchcraft (not least by folks who rely on second-hand sources). This, I hope, will be my final note on a weary subject.
