Hi,
Two things I have to say. YOU: So, the question is really, does Harry Potter rate G, PG, or R(A). I doubt even Eveline and bluemarc would rate the book G. What I hear is that it is at least PG. Perhaps JD and Ivan would rate it R(A) or worst, Beyond Death. JD: I wouldn't rate it at all for adults. I do read these books and analyze them from the thoelogical point of view. I have done similar analysis for Frank Perreti's books as well. However, for a child, I would not let him/her read it without me first explaining and guiding him/her through it, and certainly will first do a lot of analysis for the maturity of the child to know ofr sure how the child will read it. Hey, we KNOW our kids, don't we ? We know how they think for most parts. HOwever, having done so, I am convinced that it is indeed opening up the evil ways of Satan to our children. So I would caution very much against them reading it, however I will not force them. I will however ask them questions and explain to them the truth and the good deeds of the Lord and why we must avoid such things. You: Mortimer Adler, in his excellent book "How to Read A Book", suggests that there are 4 levels of reading: JD: I find this hilarius.......!!!!!! The book is titled: "How to read a book"? And how do you suppose I read THIS book, that teaches me to read a book, before I have finished reading THIS book..... Do I have to read it again after I gained some insights on how to READ a book ?? ha ha ha... just kidding.... -JD
