One can have a decent discussion on a subject without taking any position on it. However, it's natural for us to take positions on certain matter. ++Quite self-contradictory. If it is natural to take a side, then one would be denying himself by saying that he is neutral. Either that or he doesn't want to be upfront about it so that he can't be caught by his own admission. As far as Harry Potter is concerned, I don't think I've taken any "pro Harry Potter" position. However, having enthusiastically poked holes in some obviously "anti-Harry Potter" persons' arguments (actually there're very few worthy ones from them), it might give the impression that I'm "pro-Harry Potter". ++Actions speak louder than words, doesn't it? It would be most weird if you spend so much energy refuting the opposing views and say you are not pro. |
