Frankly speaking, I don't believe there is such thing as pre-believer. ++I agree. Maybe this is a more "positive thinking" way of looking at nonbelievers. Either you believe or you don't believe. The term non-believer already indicate someone who don't believe. So for those who first came to church and worship God, I would consider them as believer already. ++I don't share your optimism. A christian is hardly defined as one who shows up on Sunday and sing along with the rest. Believers demonstrate the reality of a regenerated life that can be seen over time by the community of believers. Man looks on the outward, but God looks at the inward. What the heart thinketh, the mouth speaketh. So if someone open their mouth and worship God, their heart already have and believe God. ++I'm not too sure if you can substantiate such a view from the Bible. Rather I read Jesus saying that we can mouth off pious words but our hearts are far from Him. Also, the heart is deceitful above all things. |
