hi RTC,
i've read through the articles. interesting. i must say i agree with many of the observations noted by the authors in their articles. but i do not come to the same conclusion that the ONLY acceptable (and scriptural) way to do church is to adopt the house church approach. i believe that many of the "weaknesses" of buidling-based church described in the articles can be/are being addressed by a good cellgroup system - which in my personal opinion, is/can be conceptually equivalent to the house church model. personally, i prefer to have sunday service in a church building because i believe sunday service a time for me to come together with my brothers and sisters in Christ to praise and worship our wonderful God corporately. it is just my personal preference to worship with a larger group of people in a church building, instead of with a small group of people in a small house. i don't mind worshipping God in a house. in fact, the church i belong to had bible studies/worship service in our pastor's house for quite a few years before we outgrew the location. i also believe that sunday service should also be a time for me to invite my unsaved friends to hear about the love and grace of our Father God and the beauties and glories of our Lord Jesus Christ. i don't deny/object to other ways of doing church, but i think having a church buidling serves the above stated objectives (that of corporate worhip and evangelistic outreach) very well. so, you're right to say that i'm "indifferent" as to whether christians congregate in a church buidling or in a house. to me, that is a not an important issue. the key issue to me is whether the group of people gather together in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to worship and learn more about our Father God, in Spirit and in Truth. before i end, i would just like to let you know (and hopefully understand that) to me, i believe the current arrangement that i'm in works very well for me - i.e. having sunday worship services in a church building, and having cellgroup meetings (which includes praise and worship, prayers and bible study/discussion) at a cell member's house. just some of my thoughts. blessings, keith
