Yes, there was a lot of hype and if I recall correctly, various denominational churches came together in first quarter of 2001 to correct this hype. They clarified that it was not a prophetic word from the LORD but that it was their desire to see that at least 50% of Singapore would hear the gospel. The question before each of us is this:

1. Was I there at St Andrew's Cathedral to hear for myself?
2. Did I hear from the "prophet's mouth" such utterances or was it from the grapevine?
3. Am I willing to cast my stone if I did not actually witness this act?

We do need to mature quickly and learn to separate hype from prophecy. 2 Timothy 4:3-5 warns us "For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear. They will reject the truth and follow strange myths. But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don't be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at bringing others to Christ. Complete the ministry God has given you.

Your request to expose false prophets is welcomed as we need to sound an alarm to danger, but let's get our facts right, least we cause ourselves and others to stumble because of our very own doing. Let's remeber that people may think they are doing what is right, but the LORD examines the heart.

A prophet interprets God‘s will (ie. Acts 2:16 "But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel" - where Peter recognizes Joel prophetic utterances). A prophet sees God and sees what God is doing. He looks through the lens and focuses on the one thing that is important to Him and is not particularly concerned with the foretelling the future. As hearers of the word, we too need to take that perspective, less we acquire itching ears.

To answer your 2 questions:

1. how about the thread that was deleted by you in which I posted...?
As I have explained a number of times before, the structure of the forum software which we use have certain limitations. When we decide to delete a particular thread (entry), all following entries after that will also be automatically removed. (The entire branch is pruned, so to speak). It is a difficult - almost impossible - to keep the "good" threads and remove the "bad" ones. Even if we tried, it would cause the discussion to be totally incoherent and worthless. Please do not take it personally when we delete the threads. We do try to leave them on for a short while so that it is at least read by the previous contributor.

2. How do we expose such false prophecies and warn our brothers/sisters so that they are not taken for a ride the Next time?
Let's help them dig into the Word of God; to love and know it so that any word taken out of context will be seen for what it isn't. Disciples are taught discipline but discipline isn't caught through punishment or shame but through instructions and examples. Proverbs 21:11 reminds us "A simpleton can learn only by seeing mockers punished; a wise person learns from instruction."

Blessings
