We do well to take heed of our Lord Jesus warning in Mt 24:4-11 on the 2 sources of deception viz, false christs or antichrists and false prophets.
False christs or antichrists, are those who deny that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came in the flesh as a natural man. These deceivers have an antichrist spirit (1 Jn 2:18-23; 2 Jn 7-8). This thought line would be unacceptable in any scripturally based church or believer's life. False prophets can be further divided into 2 categories. First, there are those who proclaim another way to God, usually described as the Higher Power. They present a way to God that goes around Jesus Christ instead of through Him. Again, most believers would not give attention to these prophets. However, the second group of false prophets are harder to recognise. They are in the church, and if unchecked they can deceive even the elect (Mt 24:24). They are among us, carrying the same Bible, accompanied by supernatural gifts, yet they mislead by drawing people to themselves instead of to the heart and rule of God (Acts 20:30).
