Ok, let me rephrase a bit and qualify my question. The modern day Nation of Israel was established in 1948 by Jews from around the world. These Jews were either Jews by bloodline or by religion or a combination. Israel of the OT was of the bloodline of Jacob(Israel) not Jews by religion. The promises of God were made to the blood decendants of Israel regardless of their religion as this was prior the the giving of the Law. This I think is the Israel of the OT. Now I ask my question and rephrase it. Are the Jews of today who dwell in the modern governmental State of Israel. . .the direct decendants of 12 sons of Jacob and therefore make up the Nation of Israel, which would then equate to the Israel of the OT. And to answer your question, no I am not confused, or at least I don't think I am over state with government. As I see it being Jewish by religion has little to do with the make up of the nation of Israel (biblically speaking). It is the bloodline that is important. So my question has to do with evidence and proof that the modern day Jews are in fact the direct decendants of Jacob. It seems to me that with the dispersion of Israel and their absorption in to many nations and peoples over so many years, that it would be difficult to trace the bloodlines. Please don't take my question as an insinuation of anything. It is not. I have made no judgement on this. I only seek answers. Regards, Bill Roth
