while it is always courteous to be agreeable with our church pastors, it is only wise to "search the scripture" like the thessalonians or consult the whole counsel of God to see what is being shared is wholistic. no man is impeccable other than God. what one man shares is his point of view, of course some will try to disguise it under "thus saith the Lord". still you are responsible for what you are and who you will be. words can't simple change you just like that. you still have to make effort to change yourself or your situation. if you agree with what he or she shares then, internalise it as your values. if you do not, then it is his or her values.
you are directly responsible to God for your own life.
